Bangladesh`s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan made a strong start to his Global Super League campaign, crafting a brilliant unbeaten half-century to help Dubai Capitals post 165 for seven against Central Districts in the tournament opener at Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday.
Entering the crease in the eighth over, Shakib played a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings. The seasoned left-hander remained not out on 58 off just 37 balls, showcasing his trademark calm under pressure. His innings featured seven classy boundaries and a towering six, with the fifty coming off 35 deliveries in the final over.
Earlier, Afghan opener Sediqullah Atal set the tone with a fluent 41 off 25 balls, providing the Capitals with early momentum. Jesse Bootan later chipped in with a quickfire 20 off 11 balls, including four boundaries, to give the innings a strong finish.
