Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is set to return home in mid-April, UK BNP President MA Malek has said.
Speaking to reporters after an iftar mahfil in London on Tuesday (19 March), he said, "Madam`s physicians are preparing accordingly, and she is receiving treatment in that manner. However, flight availability could be a factor. If the scheduled flight is unavailable, her return may be delayed by a day or two. But she is ready to go home."
When asked about BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman`s return, Malek said his return date remains uncertain. "He may come back a few days after Madam Khaleda Zia. I believe both leaders will not return at the same time," he added.
The event, organised by Noakhali Nationalist Forum UK, was chaired by London City BNP Adviser Abul Hossain Jasim. It was attended by UK BNP Senior Vice-President Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Joint General Secretary Parvez Mallick, Jatiyatabadi Lawyers Forum UK General Secretary Barrister Hamidul Haque Afendi Liton, and Zia Parishad UK chapter President Professor Dr Saiful Alam Chowdhury, among others.
