Anok Yai to Receive Model of the Year Honor at The Fashion Awards

FACE OF 2025: Anok Yai has been named the recipient of the Model of the Year honor at this year’s Fashion Awards, slated for Dec. 1 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

“Being named Model of the Year is such an honor. My journey — from Egypt to South Sudan to the U.S. — is one of resilience and community. This recognition is for everyone who’s ever seen their story in mine,” said Yai, whose sky-high legs and unforgettable walk have made her one of the most in-demand faces of today.

Over the last year alone she has been on the cover of Vogue France, fronted Versace, Alaïa and Saint Laurent campaigns, and continued her role as the face of Mugler’s Alien fragrance. Most recently she showcased two dazzling looks at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

Recognizing the global impact of a model who has dominated the industry over the last 12 months, the Model of the Year award was evaluated by a panel of industry experts made up of Campbell Addy, Rosie Vogel and Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou.

This year’s fashion awards, the primary fundraiser of the BFC Foundation, which aims to support the future growth and success of the British fashion industry, will be the British Fashion Council’s new chief executive officer Laura Weir’s first major project to organize.

The BFC so far has revealed the nominations for British Womenswear Designer of the Year, British Menswear Designer of the Year and Vanguard, a new category that somewhat combines the New Establishment Womenswear and New Establishment Menswear awards.

It’s also been revealed that Brunello Cucinelli this year will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award, while Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Christian Dior, will receive a Special Recognition Award for her “exceptional contribution” to the global fashion industry and “longstanding commitment to championing emerging talent” at the Fashion Awards.
