Pop sensation Katy Perry and Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship, six years after their engagement. The couple, who began dating in 2016, share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
In a joint statement released to U.S. media, representatives for the pair confirmed, “Katy and Orlando have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.” The statement emphasized that the two remain united in their commitment to raising their daughter “with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
The announcement comes in response to growing public speculation and media attention surrounding their relationship status.
Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, briefly split in 2017 but reconciled shortly after. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019. In 2020, Perry revealed her pregnancy in the music video for her single Never Worn White, and their daughter was born later that year. UNICEF, for which both Perry and Bloom serve as goodwill ambassadors, announced the birth on social media.
The breakup caps a challenging year for Perry. Her recent album 143 and lead single Woman’s World received mixed reviews, and ticket sales for her ongoing tour have been slower than in previous years. She also faced criticism earlier this year after participating in a space tourism trip with Blue Origin, which sparked backlash and left her feeling “battered and bruised,” according to her own words.
Perry was previously married to British comedian Russell Brand, while Bloom shares a 14-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife and Australian model Miranda Kerr.
Despite their separation, Perry and Bloom intend to maintain a cooperative family dynamic, continuing to be seen together as they co-parent their daughter.
