Bangladesh ranked 134th out of 147th countries in World Happiness Report 2025

Bangladesh has ranked 134th out of 147 countries in the latest World Happiness Report 2025, marking a decline from its 129th position out of 143 nations last year. The report, released today (20 March), indicates that only 13 countries in the world are less happy than Bangladesh.

The annual World Happiness Report, compiled through a collaboration between Gallup, the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an editorial board, evaluates happiness levels based on data collected from over 140 countries. The rankings are determined using average life evaluations over the past three years (2022-2024).

Finland continues to hold the title of the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden. The World Happiness Report 2025 ranks the world‍‍`s 20 happiest nations, which include the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, and Mexico. Additionally, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Belgium, and Ireland secured spots on the list, while Lithuania, Austria, Canada, Slovenia, and Czechia also made it among the happiest countries globally.

Among South Asian nations, Nepal secured the highest position at 92nd. India ranked 118th, Pakistan 109th, Myanmar 126th, and Sri Lanka closely followed Bangladesh at 133rd.

At the bottom of the list, Afghanistan remains the unhappiest country in the world, followed by Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, DR Congo, and Yemen.
