Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has announced that the July Uprising Memorial Museum is nearly complete and will be officially inaugurated on August 5. Preparations are underway accordingly.

“The July Memory Museum will be inaugurated on August 5,” said Farooki. “However, it will open to the public at a later date.”

He made the announcement on Monday (July 14) at a press conference held at Ganabhaban in Dhaka. Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were also present.

The Cultural Affairs Adviser noted that the museum is designed so visitors can deeply understand why the July uprising happened, the misrule under the Awami League, and the memories of the revolution.

“Sheikh Hasina and her associates will be judged in a court of law,” the Adviser said. “But our goal is to allow every visitor to judge Sheikh Hasina’s crimes through their own conscience.” He added that a legal framework will be established to run the museum.

According to sources, the museum will showcase photographs, memorabilia, clothing, letters, important documents, newspaper clippings, and audio-visual materials related to the July movement. A prominent section will also display scenes of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s reported escape during the mass uprising.
