FaceTime in iOS 26 will pause video calls if sensitive content detected

Apple is set to introduce a new safety feature in its upcoming iOS 26 update that will automatically pause FaceTime video calls if it detects sensitive or inappropriate content, such as nudity or someone undressing.

The feature, aimed at enhancing user protection during video calls, will temporarily halt both audio and video for all participants and show a warning message: “Audio and video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.”

This automatic detection system is designed to prevent uncomfortable or unsafe situations during FaceTime conversations. It was recently demonstrated by tech content creator iDeviceHelp and aligns with Apple’s broader push to improve digital safety tools, particularly for families and younger users.

Apple had earlier announced that Communication Safety features would be expanded in iOS 26 to include FaceTime, as well as blur out nudity in Shared Albums in the Photos app.

iOS 26 is expected to launch later this year, bringing a range of new privacy and safety enhancements.
