A team in Fairburn just broke the world record for the longest basketball game, playing 121 hours and 3 minutes to support the fight against trafficking.
A team in Fairburn, Georgia, has made history by playing basketball continuously for 121 hours and 3 minutes, breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest basketball game. The event was organized to raise awareness and funds for survivors of sex trafficking, collecting over $300,000 for the cause.
The marathon game concluded at 10 a.m. on Friday at Landmark Christian School, surpassing the previous record by just over 3 minutes.
The event was hosted by Men Opposing Sex Trafficking (MOST), an Atlanta-based nonprofit working to combat trafficking. The organization`s founder, Bruce Steele, emphasized the importance of continued efforts:
“We’re here today, but that issue will still be in society. So we’re enthused that we get to be a part of addressing that at least at some level.”
A total of 23 players, aged 17 to 64, participated in the five-day event, adhering to Guinness World Record rules for continuous play. The players rotated in shifts, took short scheduled breaks, and rested on the sidelines. By the end of the game, each team had surpassed 10,000 points.
This isn’t the first record-breaking event for MOST. In 2024, they also set the Guinness record for the longest softball game, playing for the same 121-hour duration. That event helped expand their national efforts against human trafficking.
Founded in 2022, MOST works to educate, activate, and equip men to help stop sex trafficking. The nonprofit employs data analysts, former military personnel, and law enforcement experts to assist in sting operations and prevention efforts nationwide.
Supporters could follow the basketball game through a live stream at WeAreMOST.org, where donations were accepted throughout the week.
Organizers stress that this achievement is just one step in their broader mission to reduce the demand for sex trafficking and support survivor recovery.
This historic game stands as a powerful symbol of endurance, commitment, and the ongoing fight against exploitation.
