Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli created history during Royal Challengers Bengaluru‍‍`s IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium, on April 27 (Monday). He became the first player in the history of the Indian Premier League to complete 9000 runs. He only needed 11 runs to reach this historic milestone ahead of the DC vs RCB match, and he achieved it after facing 12 balls. He is the leading run-scorer in the history of the tournament. The second batter in the list is Rohit Sharma, who is nowhere close to Kohli in terms of IPL runs. Where Kohli has achieved the 9000 run-mark, Rohit has only 7183 runs.

He reached the mark by taking a single on the final ball of the batting powerplay. He took 6732 balls to reach the historic IPL milestone. In the list of the most IPL runs, Kohli is followed by Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and KL Rahul. All of them are way behind him in terms of runs. Kohli smashed back-to-back sixes against T Natarajan after reaching the epic milestone and finished the match in style for the defending champions.
