Mia Khan, a daily wage earner, travels 12 kilometers every day on his motorcycle to take his three daughters to the Nooraniya School, operated by the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA). He then patiently waits outside for nearly four hours until their classes end—before driving them back home.
The NGO, which shared Khan’s story on Facebook, praised his unwavering support for girls’ education, emphasizing how his actions reflect hope amid adversity. The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of likes, shares, and comments from around the world.
“I am illiterate, and I live on a daily wage, but my daughters` education is very valuable to me because there is no female doctor in our area,” Khan said. “It is my greatest desire to educate my daughters like my sons.”
Social media users have hailed Mia Khan as a “real hero,” lauding his efforts to ensure his daughters receive an education despite economic hardship and cultural challenges.
“Proud of such fathers... He is a hero,” one Facebook user wrote. Another added, “Much respect! There is still hope.”
Khan’s story has not only shone a spotlight on the power of parental love but also reignited conversations about the importance of girls’ education in Afghanistan, especially in rural areas where access remains limited.
