Israeli strikes on Iran have killed more than 400 people and injured over 3,000 others, according to an updated toll released Saturday by Iran`s Ministry of Health. The assaults, which began last week, have escalated tensions between the two regional rivals and marked one of the deadliest series of attacks in recent history.
“As of this morning, Israeli attacks have claimed the lives of over 400 defenseless Iranians and left 3,056 others wounded by missiles and drones,” said Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for Iran’s health ministry, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The sustained bombardment has targeted multiple locations across the country, including infrastructure and urban centers, intensifying fears of a broader regional conflict. Civilian casualties continue to rise as rescue operations struggle to keep up amid ongoing air raids and widespread destruction.
Ongoing Conflict
The strikes come amid mounting hostilities between Israel and Iran, following months of tit-for-tat actions and proxy clashes throughout the region. While Israel has not officially commented on the scale of the attacks, analysts believe the strikes are part of a larger strategic campaign aimed at dismantling Iranian military capabilities.
Humanitarian Concerns
Iranian authorities have declared a state of emergency in several provinces and called on international organizations to condemn the attacks and provide humanitarian assistance. Hospitals in affected areas are reportedly overwhelmed, with medical personnel working around the clock to treat the injured.
Global Reactions
The international community has responded with alarm. The United Nations, Red Crescent, and several NGOs have issued statements urging restraint and calling for immediate ceasefire negotiations. However, diplomatic efforts remain stalled as both sides maintain hardened positions.
