Shakib Khan demands Tk 3 Crore for a new film

Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan is reportedly set to charge a record-breaking Tk 3 crore for his next film - marking the highest remuneration ever sought by a Bangladeshi actor, according to industry insiders.

Just three years ago, Shakib was commanding a fee of around Tk 50 lakh per project. However, the massive success of his recent films, especially Priyotoma and Borbaad, has significantly boosted both his market value and confidence. He was paid Tk 1.2 crore for Borbaad, and the film‍‍`s blockbuster performance, along with the commercial success of Tandob, helped generate a combined Eid revenue of nearly Tk 100 crore for the industry over the past two Eid festivals.

Sources say the actor finalized the deal on the night of July 2 for a new film titled Danob, which is being directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud. The film is reportedly being prepared for release during next year’s Ramadan Eid under the production banner of Creative Land.

When approached for comment, director Abu Hayat Mahmud confirmed his collaboration with Shakib but remained tight-lipped about financial details.

“We are indeed working with Shakib Khan. Once the script is finalized, we’ll officially announce the cast and other details at a press conference,” said the director, noting that the story has reached a stable point after ongoing discussions.

It is also rumored that Shakib is not entirely satisfied with the working title Danob, and a title change may still occur.

The film is expected to feature three leading actresses, including Kolkata-based actress Madhurima, although none of the female roles have been officially confirmed yet.

If the reported Tk 3 crore fee is finalized, it would set a new precedent in the Dhallywood film industry - solidifying Shakib Khan’s position as the most commercially bankable star in Bangladesh.
