Tk405 crore allocation proposed for families of July uprising martyrs, injured

The interim government has proposed an allocation of Tk405.20 crore in the budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year for the welfare and rehabilitation of the families of those martyred and injured during the July mass uprising.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed announced the proposal while presenting the national budget on 2 June. He stated that a comprehensive policy will soon be formulated to ensure regular allowances for the families of the martyrs and those injured in the movement.

In addition to financial support, the proposed allocation includes provisions for medical treatment and long-term rehabilitation measures for the injured.

As part of a broader initiative to honour and preserve the memory of the July uprising, the government has already formed the ‍‍`July Mass Uprising Directorate‍‍`. The directorate will oversee efforts to institutionalise the ideals of the movement, support affected families, and ensure their integration into national development initiatives.
